My husband and I purchased a small farm in 1987 located in south-central Pennsylvania. We first acquired Tunis sheep to keep up with the pasture. In 1989, we purchased four registered bucks from Oregon. After our first kidding season, we were hooked on Angora Goats -- now our primary breed on the farm. We strive to produce goats that are: Structurally correct possessing size and frame to carry their mohair. Heavy shearing with good body coverage. Fine-fleeced with even curl and long staple length. Healthy and reproductive. At present our stud buck is BL1205 (Lockhart) who was used exclusively in the Nissen flock of North Carolina. At the age of seven, he still possesses a fine mohair fleece. I am a fiber artist, using both mohair and wool that we raise to make rovings and yarns which we sell at various fiber art shows along the Eastern U.S. We started showing our goats in 1997 and were pleased with our efforts. We hope that by bringing Angora Goats to shows, and using their fiber, we can help promote the mohair industry.
